If you’re having trouble connecting to a shared folder on your Windows 10 computer from your Mac, follow these steps:

  1. Open System Preferences on your Mac.
  2. Click Sharing in the sidebar.
  3. Click the name of the shared folder you want to connect to.
  4. In the window that pops up, click Connect to Server.
  5. Enter the server’s address (or hostname) in the Address field and click Connect.
  6. If prompted, enter your user name and password for the account that owns the shared folder and click OK. ..

Step 1 – Configure Windows 10 for Sharing

Now that you have a shared folder on your computer, it’s time to create some files and folders inside of it. Right-click on the folder and go to New Folder. In the New Folder dialog, enter a name for your new folder and click on OK. Now right-click on the newly created folder and go to Properties. On the Sharing tab, set the permissions for your new folder as desired.

Advanced Sharing is a great way to control who has access to your files. First, check the Share this folder box and give the share a name. Then, click on Permissions and add groups or users that you want to give access. ..

If you want to make it easy and the folder doesn’t have sensitive data, add the Everyone group and give them Full Control. This way, you’ll be able to access the folder from any computer or device without having to worry about entering credentials.

If you have File and Printer Sharing turned on, you will need to allow it through the Windows Firewall in order to use it. To do this, go to Control Panel and click on Windows Defender Firewall. Then click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall.

If you want to share files and printers between your computer and a printer on a private network, make sure that File and Printer Sharing is checked.

You can choose to have users connect to the shared folder using a username and password or by using a Windows 10 user account without a password.

To connect to your home network, you’ll first have to add a password and then connect. However, if you feel your home network is super secure, you can always turn off password protected sharing, which means anyone can connect to the shared folder without having to type in a username or password.

To enable password protected sharing, go to Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, Advanced sharing settings and then expand All Networks. Here you will see an option called Password protected sharing. To disable it, uncheck the box. Personally I keep it checked, but if you don’t want to have to type in a username and password every time you want to connect to the network, uncheck this box. ..

Windows 10 without a password saves you from having to set up a password on your account.

Step 2 – Connect to Windows Shared Folder from OS X

In Finder, open Preferences and then Sidebar. Check the items under Shared.

If you’re having trouble finding your computer, go back to the Finder and wait until it shows up. If it doesn’t show up after 5 minutes, try restarting the PC once.

If your Windows PC refuses to show up in the Shared devices list in Finder, you can try connecting manually using SMB. To do that, open Finder and click on Go and then Connect to Server.

To troubleshoot network connectivity issues, type the following into your Windows 10 PC’s search bar: “ipconfig /all” Windows 10: To troubleshoot network connectivity issues, type the following into your Windows 10 PC’s search bar: “ipconfig /all” ..

If you have not already connected to the internet, you will be asked to do so in order to mount the device.

Windows PC users are having trouble connecting to the internet because their firewall is not configured properly. They need to make sure their firewall is set up properly in order to connect to the internet.

If you get a message saying Connection Failed or Not Connected, try the following:

  1. Make sure that your computer is connected to the internet.
  2. Try restarting your computer.
  3. Try connecting to the internet using a different device, like a phone or another computer. ..

That’s where the Windows 10 account credentials come in. If you have them turned on, you need to connect using them to access the password protected folder setting. You can do that by clicking the Connect As button at the top right.

Please enter your name and email address. Note that if it’s a Microsoft account you have setup on Windows 10, you’ll need to type in the full email address and the same password that you use to login to your Microsoft account.

That’s all there is to it! Now you can see the Windows 10 shared folders in Finder on your Mac. If you have any questions about connecting to Windows 10 PC from a Mac, post a comment here and I’ll try to help out. Enjoy!
